Privacy Policy

Spoken Lantern (“we,” “us”) turns documents you provide into spoken-word narration you can listen to. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with. It is short because we collect little.
What we collect
- Your Apple identity. When you sign in with Apple we receive a unique Apple identifier and the name and email you choose to share. We never see your Apple password.
- Documents you upload. The Markdown or PDF files you add, their text, and the narration script and audio we generate from them.
- Subscription status. Whether your subscription is active, from Apple. We never receive your card or payment details.
- Sign-in tokens. Stored in hashed form to keep you signed in.
What we do not do
We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs, we do not serve ads, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.
How we use your information
Solely to generate and stream narration of your documents and to operate your account and subscription. Your uploaded text is processed to produce a narration script and audio; nothing more.
Who we share it with
We rely on a small set of service providers to run the app. Each processes your data only to provide its service to us:
- Apple — sign-in and subscription billing.
- OpenAI — converts narration text to speech.
- Anthropic — generates the narration script from your document text.
- Vercel — application hosting and audio storage.
- Neon — the database that stores your account and documents.
Your document text is sent to OpenAI and Anthropic to produce narration.
Retention and deletion
Your documents and audio remain until you delete them or delete your account. You can delete your account from within the app; when you do, we remove your account data and revoke the Apple sign-in token we hold. To request deletion or a copy of your data, email support@zestful.dev.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit over HTTPS. Audio and database storage are access-controlled, and sign-in tokens are stored hashed.
Children
Spoken Lantern is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
International users
We operate in the United States. If you use the app from elsewhere, your information is processed in the U.S.
Changes
We will update this page if our practices change and revise the date above.
